Toronto FC Season Opener: 3-2 Loss to FC Dallas

Toronto FC opened its Major League Soccer campaign with a 3-2 loss to FC Dallas on Saturday night at Toyota Stadium.

Petar Musa scored twice, including the winner in the 79th minute, as Dallas claimed three points in the season opener for both clubs. Logan Farrington added a goal and an assist for the home side.

Toronto received goals from Djordje Mihailovic and Derrick Etienne Jr., but could not hold off Dallas in the second half.

Musa opened the scoring in the ninth minute. Toronto responded six minutes later when Jonathan Osorio delivered a through ball to Mihailovic, who finished to make it 1-1.

Dallas restored its lead in the 38th minute. Farrington cut inside to evade two defenders before placing a shot inside the right post to give the hosts a 2-1 advantage heading into halftime.

Toronto equalized in the 67th minute. After Dániel Sallói’s attempt was stopped, Etienne reacted quickest to slot home the rebound and level the match at 2-2.

The decisive moment came in the 79th minute when Farrington delivered a cross into the area and Musa flicked a header inside the left post.

Michael Collodi made five saves for Dallas. Toronto goalkeeper Luka Gavran was not required to make a save.
