Canada Soccer has introduced the official visual identity for the inaugural W Canadian Championship, a competition that will determine the country’s women’s club champion while opening the door to continental and global tournaments.

The new logo will make its debut when the tournament kicks off on August 3, marking another milestone in the continued growth of women’s professional soccer in Canada.

A new identity for a new national competition

The W Canadian Championship will serve as Canada’s domestic pathway to the 2027 Concacaf W Champions Cup, with the eventual winner also earning the opportunity to compete for a place in the 2028 FIFA Women’s Club World Cup.

According to Canada Soccer, the new branding was designed to reflect both the federation’s identity and the ambitions of the competition.

The logo prominently features a maple leaf, symbolizing Canada and the nationwide scope of the tournament, while the purple color palette highlights the organization’s commitment to the women’s game. At the center sits the Canada Soccer crest, accompanied by a graphic element representing growth, momentum and the continued rise of women’s football across the country.

The federation says the clean, modern wordmark was created to ensure the competition’s branding remains recognizable across broadcast, digital and matchday platforms.

Tournament begins in August

The competition opens on August 3 when Halifax Tides FC hosts Ottawa Rapid FC in the first quarterfinal match.

Eight clubs will compete in the inaugural edition, including all six Northern Super League teams alongside two representatives from Premier Soccer Leagues Canada.

The participating clubs are:

  • AFC Toronto (NSL)
  • Calgary Wild FC (NSL)
  • CS Mont-Royal Outremont (LS Pro QC)
  • Halifax Tides FC (NSL)
  • Ottawa Rapid FC (NSL)
  • Montréal Roses FC (NSL)
  • Simcoe County Rovers FC (Ontario Premier League)
  • Vancouver Rise FC (NSL)

The quarterfinals will be played during August and October, while the semifinals and championship match are scheduled for the first half of 2027.

Beginning with the opening round, the newly unveiled logo will appear across all official W Canadian Championship broadcasts, digital platforms and matchday branding.
