Nashville SC Dominates Atlético Ottawa in Champions Cup

Atlético Ottawa’s first Concacaf Champions Cup ended with a 5-0 defeat to Nashville SC. Nashville dominated the match, scoring through Alex Muyl, Jordan Knight, Woobens Pacius, Jack Maher, and Ahmed Qasem. Notably, Marko Stojadinovic made his debut and Ballou Tabla reached 100 appearances. Ottawa now prepares for the Canadian Premier League season.

Atlético Ottawa’s first Concacaf Champions Cup campaign came to an end Tuesday night following a 5-0 loss to Nashville SC at GEODIS Park.

The Major League Soccer side, currently leading the Eastern Conference, produced a clinical performance at home to close out the Round One series.

Nashville opened the scoring in the 21st minute when Alex Muyl tapped in from close range after a rebound off the post.

The hosts doubled their advantage in the 36th minute. Jordan Knight was played in behind the Ottawa defence and finished with a right-footed strike to make it 2-0.

Former Canadian Premier League striker Woobens Pacius extended the lead in the 55th minute, converting from close range after Ottawa goalkeeper Garissone Innocent made an initial save.

Jack Maher added a fourth in the 63rd minute, heading home from a set piece.

Ahmed Qasem completed the scoring in the 83rd minute after capitalizing on a turnover, rounding the goalkeeper before finishing into an empty net.

Notable moments

Erling Myklebust and Emiliano García made their first starts for Atlético Ottawa, while Loïc Cloutier returned to the starting lineup.

Midfielder Marko Stojadinovic made his professional debut in the 71st minute. Tim Arnaud also made his first professional appearance, entering the match in the 86th minute.

Ballou Tabla recorded his 100th appearance for Atlético Ottawa in all competitions. The match marked the club’s first competitive fixture played outside Canada.

What’s next

Atlético Ottawa now shifts its focus to the Canadian Premier League season, which begins Saturday, April 4, against Forge FC at Hamilton Stadium. Kickoff is scheduled for 4 p.m. ET.
