CPL’s New Look: A Bold Future in Canadian Soccer

The Canadian Premier League has officially revealed a refreshed brand identity that signals ambition, confidence, and its place at the top of Canada’s domestic men’s soccer landscape.

The new look was unveiled as part of a coordinated visual evolution led by Canadian Soccer Business, launching in parallel with the rebrand of Premier Soccer Leagues Canada, the newly named national pro-am system formerly known as League1 Canada, along with its provincial and regional leagues.

A unified vision across Canadian soccer

The updated CPL identity is designed to reflect the league’s role as the professional destination within a clearly aligned national pathway. From community based competition to elite development environments and the professional game, the refreshed visual system strengthens cohesion across Canadian Soccer Business’s league portfolio.

According to CPL Executive Vice President Costa Smyrniotis, the new identity represents both responsibility and leadership within the domestic game.

The league positions itself as a standard setter, one that reflects ambition, performance, and national pride while competing on home soil.

Design rooted in national symbols

Rooted in Canadian red and elevated by winner’s gold, the new CPL identity signals maturity and confidence. The system is built to perform across broadcast, digital platforms, and matchday environments, balancing clarity with flexibility.

At the center of the identity is a shield that points north, symbolizing direction and ambition. Inside, the CPL lettermark rises with intent above the Canadian maple leaf, which contains the guiding North Star. These elements reinforce unity, aspiration, and leadership while remaining unmistakably Canadian.

A bold custom typeface supports the system, giving the league a distinct and youthful voice that translates across all platforms.

Alignment without losing individuality

Key elements such as the shield structure, maple leaf, and typography are shared with Premier Soccer Leagues Canada and its aligned provincial and regional competitions. This approach creates visual cohesion across the pathway while allowing each league to maintain its own identity and purpose.

The result is a connected ecosystem where clubs, players, and fans can express individuality within a strong and unified national framework.

A foundation for the future

The CPL’s refreshed identity is not only a visual update, but a strategic statement about where the league stands and where it is heading. By aligning branding across the pathway, Canadian Soccer Business continues to lay the groundwork for deeper coordination, stronger storytelling, and long term growth within the sport.

As the Canadian Premier League continues to evolve, this new identity reflects a league confident in its role, clear in its direction, and ready to inspire the next chapter of Canadian soccer.
