Blue Jays sign veteran right-hander Michael Lorenzen
The Toronto Blue Jays have signed right-hander Michael Lorenzen to a one-year contract. He brings 12 years of MLB experience and recently played for the Colorado Rockies. Lorenzen will join the team for their next game, while Chad Dallas is optioned to Triple-A Buffalo, and Jonatan Clase is placed on the injured list.
The Toronto Blue Jays have added another experienced arm to their pitching staff, signing right-hander Michael Lorenzen to a one-year contract.
Lorenzen has already reported to the team and will be active for Toronto’s next game. As part of the corresponding roster moves, right-hander Chad Dallas was optioned to Triple-A Buffalo, while outfielder Jonatan Clase was transferred to the 60-day injured list.
The 34-year-old Lorenzen joins the Blue Jays after spending the 2026 season with the Colorado Rockies, where he made 25 starts and 26 appearances. He posted a 7.08 ERA across 115.2 innings.
Lorenzen brings 12 seasons of MLB experience
Originally selected by the Cincinnati Reds in the 2013 MLB Draft, Lorenzen reached the majors in 2015 and has since pitched for seven organizations.
The right-hander has appeared in 421 games, including 144 starts, during stints with the Reds, Los Angeles Angels, Detroit Tigers, Philadelphia Phillies, Texas Rangers, Kansas City Royals and Rockies.
Across 1,111.2 career innings, Lorenzen owns a 4.40 ERA, 1.37 WHIP and 908 strikeouts. He was named an All-Star while pitching for Detroit in 2023.
Toronto now becomes the eighth MLB organization of his career as the Blue Jays add another pitching option for the remainder of the season.
