Ariel Almagro

Inter Toronto Football Club continues to shape its attacking unit ahead of the upcoming season, announcing the arrival of Ecuadorian winger Ariel Almagro. The 24-year-old has signed a contract guaranteed through the 2026 season, with a club option for 2027, as the club looks to add pace and creativity out wide.

A profile built in Ecuador’s top flight

Born in Quito, Almagro arrives in Toronto with experience at the highest level of Ecuadorian football. Between 2022 and 2024, he featured regularly for Cumbayá FC, establishing himself as a consistent contributor in LigaPro Serie A. His performances earned him a move in 2025 to SD Aucas, where he continued his development while logging valuable minutes in league play.

Those seasons provided Almagro with exposure to demanding competitive environments, a foundation that Inter Toronto believes will translate well to the Canadian professional landscape.

Experience beyond domestic competition

In addition to league play, Almagro has tested himself on the continental stage. He gained international experience through appearances in the CONMEBOL Copa Sudamericana, including participation in the LigaPro Serie A Sudamericana Playoffs. Those matches added a layer of high-pressure experience to his résumé, an element the club values as it builds depth across the squad.

Tactical fit and versatility

Primarily deployed on the left wing, Almagro is comfortable operating across multiple attacking roles. His ability to stretch the field, apply pressure with and without the ball, and contribute in buildup play offers Inter Toronto added flexibility in wide areas and midfield rotations.

Head coach Mauro Eustáquio highlighted Almagro’s pace, intensity and creativity as key reasons behind the signing, pointing to the winger’s experience in competitive environments as a strong foundation for adapting to the league and the club’s playing style.

Building depth for the season ahead

Almagro’s arrival reflects Inter Toronto’s broader roster strategy, blending emerging international talent with players accustomed to top-tier competition. As the club continues to reinforce its attacking options, the Ecuadorian winger adds energy and balance to a group designed to compete consistently over a long season.

For Almagro, the move represents a new challenge and an opportunity to make his mark in a growing football market, while for Inter Toronto, it is another step toward constructing a dynamic and versatile squad.
