William Nylander reached 300 career NHL goals with a two-goal performance as the Toronto Maple Leafs defeated the Edmonton Oilers 7-2 on Saturday night, extending their winning streak to four games.

Toronto delivered its highest-scoring performance of the season, with six different players finding the net against an Edmonton team that entered the matchup riding a three-game winning streak.

Anthony Stolarz made 30 saves for the Maple Leafs, who improved to 7-4-2, while Edmonton dropped to 8-2-1 despite two goals from Leon Draisaitl.

The victory continued Toronto’s recent offensive surge, coming just two days after a dramatic 5-4 win over the New York Rangers.

William Nylander reaches 300 career NHL goals

Nylander provided the headline moment of the night, scoring twice to reach the 300-goal milestone in his NHL career.

The Swedish forward has been an important part of Toronto’s offence throughout his career, and Saturday’s performance added another achievement to his time with the franchise.

His two goals helped the Maple Leafs build a commanding advantage over an Oilers team that had lost just once in regulation entering the game.

Nylander was joined on the scoresheet by Jack Roslovic, Auston Matthews, Troy Stecher, Zack MacEwen and Vinni Lettieri, giving Toronto six different goal scorers.

The distribution of goals highlighted the Maple Leafs’ offensive depth during their current winning streak, with contributions coming from established stars and players throughout the lineup.

Matthews added another goal to his season total after recently celebrating his 700th NHL appearance with a goal and an assist against Columbus.

Stecher also continued his productive stretch after scoring the game-winning goal with 26.3 seconds remaining against the Rangers on Thursday.

For Nylander, however, the milestone was the defining individual achievement of Toronto’s seven-goal performance in Edmonton.

Maple Leafs extend winning streak to four games

Toronto entered Saturday’s contest with three consecutive victories, having defeated Columbus 6-2 and New York 5-4 in its previous two games.

Against Edmonton, the Maple Leafs maintained that momentum with their most decisive result of the streak.

Stolarz played an important role in limiting the Oilers to two goals, stopping 30 shots against one of the league’s most productive offensive teams.

Edmonton goaltender Tristan Jarry finished with 25 saves as Toronto converted its opportunities into a convincing five-goal victory.

The Maple Leafs have now scored 18 goals over their last three games, reflecting a productive stretch for an offence that has received contributions from several different players.

The win also marked Toronto’s fourth consecutive victory and improved its record to three games above .500.

Draisaitl scores twice as McDavid extends points streak

Despite Edmonton’s defeat, Draisaitl continued his strong start to the season with both Oilers goals.

The German forward reached 12 goals, moving into a tie with Minnesota Wild star Kirill Kaprizov for the NHL scoring lead in that category.

Connor McDavid also extended his season-opening point streak to 11 games, recording two assists against Toronto.

The Oilers captain has accumulated 33 points through 11 games, maintaining his remarkable offensive production despite Saturday’s loss.

Edmonton entered the matchup with an 8-1-1 record and three straight wins, but Toronto’s seven-goal performance ended that run.

For the Maple Leafs, the result represents another step forward following a stretch in which they have combined timely scoring with improved results away from home.

Toronto will remain in Alberta for its next game, visiting the Calgary Flames on Monday night.

The Maple Leafs head into that matchup with four consecutive wins, while Nylander carries the distinction of reaching 300 NHL goals during one of Toronto’s strongest offensive performances of the young season.
