Walker entered his final swing needing four consecutive home runs to overtake Schwarber. Under MLB’s new Derby rules, hitters who homer on their final scheduled swing continue receiving bonus swings until they fail to hit one out.

He connected on four straight home runs, including the winning blast over the left-field wall, as fireworks erupted around Citizens Bank Park.

Winning the Derby is another milestone in a season that has transformed Walker into one of baseball’s emerging power hitters.
After combining for just 11 home runs across the previous two seasons while battling inconsistency and injuries, Walker entered the All-Star break with a career-high 22 home runs and his first All-Star selection.
Much of that turnaround has been credited to a simplified swing developed during Spring Training, allowing the former top prospect to fully tap into the raw power that made him one of baseball’s highest-rated young hitters.

Walker opened the competition with towering home runs measuring 461 and 470 feet before eliminating Tampa Bay Rays slugger Junior Caminero in the semifinals.

Major League Baseball introduced a revamped Home Run Derby format for 2026, replacing the traditional timed rounds with a swing-based competition.
Hitters received 20 swings in the opening round before the top four advanced into head-to-head semifinals. The final featured 15 swings, with bonus swings awarded as long as the batter continued hitting home runs on the final scheduled attempt.

The two teammates became the first Phillies duo to participate in the same Home Run Derby since the event adopted its current format.
Netflix debuts as Home Run Derby broadcaster
The 2026 Home Run Derby also marked a historic broadcast milestone.
For the first time, the event streamed live on Netflix as part of Major League Baseball’s new three-event package with the platform.
The package also includes Opening Day coverage and the upcoming Field of Dreams Game between the Philadelphia Phillies and Minnesota Twins.
For Walker, however, the biggest headline belonged entirely to him.
